A youth organization in Peren district has demanded prosecution of a person from Benreu village who allegedly assaulted officials of the BRTF early this month. Peren-district based Poilwa Youth Organisation has condemned what it called the “arrogant physical assault” on a BRTF official and an official handyman of the BRTF in Poilwa village on April 18.
The two were allegedly assaulted by a person identified one Chikoppe of Benreu village, the organization stated in a note issued through the media on Wednesday.
“The officials were beaten and threatened without any reason and the BT-II was forcefully boarded in vehicle bearing Reg.No NL-03 A2668 and left the scene, though the vehicle was intercepted by the OIC on the halfway,” the union stated.
“This physical humiliation and kidnapping of BRTF is not only an obstruction of development in the area but an insult to the five villages (including Poilwa village) along the Kohima-Lekie road, which have given assurance to the BRTF authority to provide congenial environment for the completion of the project.”
Calling the assault an outright criminal act “punishable by law” and that it was perpetuated within the jurisdiction of Poilwa, the union has termed the assailant’s act as “unacceptable and a challenge to the integrity of the village aimed at tarnishing the image of the village.”
The Poilwa Youth Organisation has requested the law enforcement to immediately take stern action by booking the culprit.
“Poilwa Youth Organisation further informs that it will not tolerate any anti-social activity that disturbs the peaceful atmosphere within her jurisdiction,” the note added.
