Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): Advisor for Fire and Emergency Services, SIRD, Relief and Rehabilitation, Pohwang Konyak, has discouraged students to join politics stating that it is addictive and leaves one behind with ‘bitter’ taste.
He stated this during the 13th graduation ceremony of Faith Theological College (FTC) at Ura Villa Colony in Dimapur on Thursday. Stating that people get drunk in politics, he cited about himself who has been MLA for five terms since 1974. He stated that in politics people would always complain about their work whether they do it or not.
He asked the graduates to bring many other believers through their good works and bring out the good in people even after leaving the college.
Andrew Ahoto Sema, chairperson of Livingstone Foundation International, also stressed that the tagline “Nagaland for Christ” is a beautiful word but the burden is much heavier and added that everyone has equal responsibility to play. He, therefore, encouraged the graduates to work hard to translate the tagline into reality.
“What you have learned from the college, I hope you will give back that goodness to the world,” he said adding “if one can multiply the talent and goodness, we can change the world to a better place.”
He further advised the students to have integrity and work when no man is watching.
During the programme, valedictory speeches were also delivered by pastor T Hetoli Sema, Elina Chishi and pastor Rongchennungsang Ao.
It was informed that 21 students including diploma in theology, Bachelor of Theology, Master of Divinity and Master of Theology graduated in 2022 from the college.
