Dimapur, Feb. 11 (EMN): The Pochury Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship during its 29th fellowship held on Feb.11 at Shatüza Baptist Church, resolved to support Clean Election campaign of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC). The pastors took pledge to abide and follow the guidelined of the NBCC on Clean Election to maintain sanctity and integrity of the church in matters of election in the state.
The fellowship members gave their pledge before God on the following points.
- I am a Christian first, then a voter. Therefore, my supreme right is to elect God fearing, honest and visionary leaders.
- In every polling station, the pastor will lead and start with a prayer on the polling day.
- Will not sell my vote by accepting in cash or in kind from any candidate which amounts to surrendering of our rights and future.
- Will not declare our party allegiance to a particular political party / candidate.
- Will keep only one voter identity card and say “NO” to proxy voting.
- Will not go alone to any candidate for offering prayers without the other church leaders or without the knowledge of the church.
- Will not prophesy and give / use pulpit to speak in favour of any political party or candidate.
