Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): The Pochury Hoho Dimapur District (PHDD) has condemned what it stated was an unwarranted raid by the Assam Rifles at the residence of Hopeson Snock, a former NPP candidate, at Signal Angami in Dimapur on Monday.
According to a press release from the organisation, the AR troops raided the house at around 2 am when Snock and his wife were out of station. This was the second raid by AR personnel; the first was carried out on March 15, 2018, it stated.
It described Snock as a “sincere public leader.” The PHDD further stated that the unprovoked raid justified by AFSPA is not only a “nuisance” but has also created fear in “the minds of the innocent children and family members.”
However, an Assam Rifles officer claimed that during the raid by the 41 AR stationed at Medziphema, one NSCN (IM) member, identified as Hokuka Chophy, was caught with four live rounds of ammunition and ‘incriminating documents.’
The AR officer told Eastern Mirror that Chophy was handed over to the police. No FIR was lodged, he said.
