PM SHRI Government High School, Meriema, defeated GHS Noklak 5-0 to win the State-level Pre-Subroto Under-17 girls' football title.

KOHIMA — PM SHRI Government High School (GHS), Meriema, Kohima, emerged as champions of the State-level Pre-Subroto Tournament for the under-17 girls' category after defeating Government High School, Noklak, 5-0 in the final played at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), Kohima, on Thursday.
Lhuvekholu opened the scoring with goals in the 8th and 10th minutes, while Zamloi T Konyak added a brace in the 28th and 42nd minutes. Khethunu Vitsu sealed the victory with a goal in the 48th minute as Government High School, Noklak, failed to find the net.
The participating teams in the girls' category were Livingstone Higher Secondary School, Dimapur; Government Higher Secondary School, Hakushang, Tuensang; PM SHRI Government High School, Meriema, Kohima; Cornerstone Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto; Government High School, Molvom, Chümoukedima; Government High School, Noklak; and Government Middle School, Imrong, Mokokchung.

The Under-17 boys' category will be played next week. Nagaland is participating in both the boys' and girls' categories this year.
For the qualifying rounds, the state's 17 districts were divided into four zones, with the top two teams from each zone in both categories advancing to the state-level tournament. The zonal rounds saw participation from 32 boys' teams and 10 girls' teams.
The champions of both categories will represent Nagaland at the 65th Subroto Mukherjee International Football Tournament to be held in New Delhi from August 18 to September 25.
Director of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Kethosituo Sekhose, Nagaland Football Association president K Neibou Sekhose, and Additional Director of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Jakedo Chase presented the trophies and medals to the champion and runners-up.
