NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, characterised the principal opposition Congress as a "company" being run by a group of "urban Naxals."
"The party is being operated by a cadre of urban Naxals. Even Congress leaders and workers are beginning to realise this. Several veteran leaders have been marginalised," Modi stated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made these allegations while addressing a massive gathering of BJP booth workers at the event organised by the state unit, called 'Karyakarta Mahakumbh,' held at Bhopal's Jamboree Maidan.
During his lengthy speech, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the grand old party and levelled accusations against it.
He questioned why the Congress couldn't even construct toilets during its long years in power.
"Congress leaders are born with a silver spoon, so how can they understand the hardships of the poor?" he asked.
"I had to build toilets, provide gas cylinders, and ensure access to drinking water because the Congress was unwilling to work for the welfare of women," he alleged.
He pointed out that the Congress had governed the country for nearly 70 years but had betrayed the people. "The Congress left the people of Bharat struggling for basic necessities - food, clothing, and shelter. It has jeopardised the future of generations over the last 70 years," he added.
Prime Minister Modi further alleged that the Congress opposes every step taken by the BJP government to empower the nation.
He claimed that Congress and its allies were unable to accept the Women's Reservation Bill. "The Opposition Alliance supported the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament half-heartedly, but their actions clearly indicated their reluctance. Now, they are hatching a major conspiracy to incite women to create obstacles in the passage of the Bill," Modi added.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi stated that the country has witnessed remarkable growth under BJP rule in the past nine years. "Every country wishes to collaborate with Bharat, and investors are keen to invest here," he emphasised.
