Dimapur, March 12 (EMN): Orientation training for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) for Dimapur district was held on March 11 at the conference hall of District Court, Dimapur. The training was organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in Association with Dimapur District Services Authority (DDLSA).
The training was imparted to PLVs by master trainers and legal aid counsel-cum-trainer of NSLSA aided with the resourceful discourse of Nino Iralu, Member Secretary, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority and Ajong Imchen, Secretary of Dimapur District Services Authority.
The ice breaking session was led by Cheliam Khiamniungan, master trainer of NSLSA. She also briefed on training methodology and concepts before the proceeding of the session.
Ajong Imchen gave a detailed illustration on the do’s and don’ts as PLVs, while Imchen gave the outlines and instructions on proper practice, rules and mode of operation by PLVs.
Practical session was conducted by Alemwapang Ao, master trainer (NSLSA), where drill was carried out on drafting of petitions, complaint, FIR to equip PLVs with adequate drafting skill while confronting such situation and scenario in the real world.
Easter Aye, legal aid counsel-cum-trainer (NSLSA), prepared the PLVs on dealing and handling cases related to crime against women and children and their protection.
Limasenla Longkumer, master trainer (NSLSA) presented on role of PLVs on cases of motor accidents and claims, while exercise on consumer redressal techniques and forums was shared by Cheliam Khiamniungan, master trainer of NSLSA.
In the afternoon session, Easter K.Aye, gave lecture on the human trafficking issues and current realities within the local context and briefed on how PLVs should approach and deal with such cases.
In the second Practical session, exercise on maintenance of records, PLV register, filling of success stories was carried out coordinated by Alemwapang Ao, master trainer of NSLSA.
Resource person, member secretary of NSLSA, Nino Iralu, highlighted the challenges, technical issues and way forward visions on the context of PLVs and panel lawyers.
Limasenla Longkumer appraised PLVs on prisoners’ right and ways to ensure jrisoners right through regular Jail visit and interaction with inmates and jail authorities.
Various National Legal Services Authorities (NALSA) schemes and flagship programmes were also discussed with PLVs and officials of Legal Services institution.
