DIMAPUR — The Poilwa Lui Nagaland (PLN) has condemned the sexual assault committed by one Benjamin Terieng on a 26-year-old woman at Ngwalwa village, Peren, on September 8.
In a condemnation note, the PLN described the injuries caused to the victim as an attempt to murder and added that every right-thinking person should condemn the crime.
While appreciating the police for booking the accused promptly, it appealed to the concerned authority to give stringent punishment to the accused as per the law of the land.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It further expressed its solidarity with the victim and maintained that any attempt to prematurely release the accused or attempt to belittle the grievous issue by any individual or society would be viewed as being conniving with the accused to encourage such heinous crimes even in the future.
ZSU Nagaland: The Zeliangrong Students' Union (ZSU), Nagaland office has also condemned the alleged rape as well as the physical assault on the victim.
The union stated in a condemnation note that such an act against an innocent person must be publicly condemned by all sensible citizens and labelled as cowardly.
The union urged the authorities to award befitting punishment for such a heinous crime, which it said is both intolerable and unacceptable in today's society.
It also pledged justice to the victim and her family and urged the relevant authorities to take stern action as per the provision of law.
