Dimapur, April 15
Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, called upon the Nagas, particularly those tribes dissected by artificial political boundary, to play pro-active part for the common benefit of all lest such opportunity might not repeat in future.
Stating that Naga people separated by international and political boundary within the Indian union remained minority in the larger perspective of the Naga society, Zeliang urged those communities to put in ‘double effort’ for the common benefit at this crucial juncture when the Indo-Naga peace talk is inching towards its logical conclusion acceptable to all. Zeliang said this while addressing the inauguration of Jalukie Rongkaidai village in Peren district on April 15.
Pointing out that other Naga communities bordering Myanmar remain minority in Nagaland, Zeliang drew parallel comparison of the Zeliangrong community in Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland which remain minority in their respective domain owing to political boundary division. In this context, he urged upon the community to ‘double’ their effort towards finding solution to the Naga political for the common benefit.
Zeliang also mentioned on the efforts undertaken by the elected members who recently met the central leaders of various parties to support the Naga cause when it is tabled in the Parliament. He said it is opportune time for the Nagas to take right decision.
Ministers of Rural Development, CL John, and the Health and Family Welfare, P Longon, also spoke on the occasion. While citing prevailing unity among their respective tribes despite political boundary divide, the two leaders implored the Zeliangrong community to harness unity for progress. Parliamentary Secretary of Geology and Mining, Dr. Imtiwapang also attended the inaugural programme.
It may be mentioned here that Jalukie Rongkaidai village was established in 2007 and got government recognition on December 6, 2015. It has 124 households with total land area of 1125 acres.
