DIMAPUR — An awareness-cum-plantation drive under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) was conducted at PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School in Thahekhu, Dimapur, on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by ADC of Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe, and EAC of Dimapur, Imlijungla Lemtur, stated a DIPR report.
The ADC, in her address, said that the air quality in Dimapur is deteriorating every day, despite the fact that Dimapur is not an industrial city. Humtsoe said it is not only the responsibility of the government officials but also that of every citizen to make the environment better.
Maintaining that small efforts can make huge impact, she called upon everyone to work together as a team.
Imlijungla Lemtur disclosed that Dimapur was declared a “non-attainment city” because of the poor air quality standard, which is below the nation average for five consecutive years.
Stating that the municipal council is doing its best, she called upon the citizens to do their part as responsible citizens to improve the air quality.
The event saw the declaration of results of drawing and essay competitions and tree plantation at the school campus.
