Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): Nagaland could have a school of planning and architecture and an engineering college soon courtesy the sponsorship of the central government, the state’s parliamentary secretary for Higher and Technical Education has said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Higher and Technical Education Deo Nukhu addressed the annual ‘Techno Cultural Festival Ekarikthin’ of the National Institute of Technology as chief guest on March 31 at the NIT campus in Chumukedima, Dimapur.
In his inaugural address, Deo Nukhu declared that Nagaland was hoping to have a school of planning and architecture and an engineering college soon under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The politician expressed optimism that the teaching fraternity and students would benefit from the facilities. He solicited their cooperation and support ‘once the institutes are set up.’
Speaking about ‘Ekarikthin’ which means “sharing the same heritage” in Sanskrit, Deo Nukhu said that the platform will give opportunities to the students of NIT and other institutions to showcase their talents and potential in various fields of expertise. ‘Ekarikthin will be of great importance to our country India having unity in diversity of culture, languages, and religions to come together through this event,’ the chief guest claimed. Also, observing that undergoing technical and professional studies was not an easy task, he felt that it was an occasion for one to refresh the mind ‘while exhibiting their potentialities and talents.’
Wishing them the best, the parliamentary secretary advised them to ‘perform with utmost sincerity and diligence in order to display the potentials in them to enlighten the rest of the audience of NIT in achieving the national goal of “unity in diversity.”
Nukhu also launched NIT’s website and released a brochure marking the event.
