Hotel Saramati employees not paid for seven months

Dimapur, April 3: Hotel Saramati Dimapur, which was renovated few months back, is struggling to pick up with revenue while the 49 staff have not been paid for seven months. This concern was shared by Hotel Saramati deputy general manager Florence Chophy during a felicitation programme of the newly appointed Nagaland Hotels Limited (NHL) chairman Ato Yepthomi.
The felicitation programme in honour of the new NHL chairman and state president of the National People’s Party (NPP), Ato Yepthomi, was held at Orchid conference hall of the Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on April 3. The programme was organised by the NHL comprising of two units- Hotel Saramati and Hotel Japfu, Kohima.
Taking note of the concern shared by the Hotel Saramati employees, Yepthomi has urged them to work together as an industry. While admitting that he might not solve their problem in total, Yepthomi has assured to lend an ear to their concern and work together for their benefits.
Endorsing Hotel Saramati and Hotel Japfu Kohima as the best in terms of hospitality, the chairman exhorted that hotels, as an industry itself, is most respected and noble which cannot be taken for granted. On this note, he pointed out that looking only for financial assistance would not facilitate them but that they need to promote themselves as an industry and deliver the best.
“I have suggested the state chief minister that there is more to do for the NHL and he has assured to help us in any way”, conveyed Yepthomi. He also informed that the NHL is going to be part of tourism department. However, he advised them to think over the proposal and come up with their suggestions if they want to merge with tourism department or have a separate entity.
Yepthomi further informed that there was a proposal for a hotel at Nerhema and other districts as well.
