DIMAPUR — The Office of the Councillor of Ward 9, Dimapur Municipal Council, Lanutoshi Steven Yaden, has condemned the dumping of carcasses of pigs outside Dimapur Club under Ward 9 and warned of strict action against illegal dumping.
In a statement, the councillor stated that such an act is disgraceful and uncivilised, posing serious concerns relating to public health, sanitation, environmental hygiene, and neighbourhood dignity.
He added that dumping dead animals and other waste in public places is an act of gross irresponsibility and cannot be allowed to become a normal practice.
Condemning the incident, the councillor appealed to every resident, shopkeeper, business establishment, institution, vehicle owner, and individual using the area to understand that public spaces are not dumping grounds.

The practice of throwing garbage, animal waste, carcasses, plastic, household refuse, or any other form of waste in and around the Dimapur Club area and other public spaces within Ward 9 will no longer be tolerated, the communique stated.
With immediate effect, indiscriminate dumping of garbage in prohibited areas has been strictly prohibited. Anyone found violating the sanitation rules will be subject to fines and other appropriate action under applicable municipal laws and regulations. Where necessary, cases may also be brought to the attention of concerned authorities for further legal action.
The councillor noted that this warning is not directed at one particular individual or group alone but is a clear message to all those who have been habitually throwing garbage and waste in public places within Ward 9.
He highlighted that appeals for civic responsibility and cooperation have been made repeatedly, but violations cannot continue at the cost of community health, safety, and cleanliness.
The councillor further appealed to colony councils, residents, business establishments, and responsible citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report incidents of illegal dumping to the ward councillor's office or the nearest police station.
