Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Legislator representing 32 Atoizu assembly constituency in Zunheboto, Picto Shohe, has underscored the importance of children ministry and said that children, who are the future of the society, would bear fruit according to how they are moulded.
“The world is focusing on children ministry because if we can correct the children today, the next generation can witness a peaceful world tomorrow,” Picto said.
The MLA was addressing the valedictory programme of the 9th Sunday School conference of Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (SBAK. Aizüto) held at Vekuho Old Baptist Church on January 15.
He said the 39th president of the United States, Jimmy Carter, had shown a good example by joining the children ministry after he retired from the highest post.
Picto said he still could remember his Sunday school days and recalled how the teacher taught him that “Jesus is the only way.”
“The word of God is the only key to success and it is all because of the words of God that I am where I am now,” he stated.
Picto also said Sümis have many capable theology leaders and at the present juncture, they are among those leaders who uplift the name of the Sümi tribe.
He mentioned the names of Rev. Dr. Akheto Sema, general secretary of Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI), and Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo, general secretary of Bible Society of India (BSI). Stating that church leaders are the rescuers of sinners as well as peace makers, the MLA urged the church leaders not to hesitate to correct the politicians, civil society organisations and “freedom fighters.”
Picto further shared that before joining politics, he had served as the executive council member under Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) and later served as chairman of executive council for another term. He was also the member of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) for two terms.
The programme began with choreography by Mokokchung Town Itimi Loka, while Akuluto Itimi Loka and Yesholuto Itimi Loka presented songs and Shoixe Itimi Loka recited the Bible verses.
