Imphal, June 29 (EMN): ‘Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) department is all set to take up a number of activities to disseminate the government related information to the public by using different forms of new mediums’ said DIPR Director Meghachandra Kongbamduring the inaugural function of Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal on June 29 at Imphal. Kongbam said the directorate will introduce a Mobile Apps to upload ‘breaking news’ type news formats besides launching a linkage for various government schemes through their websites as part of the ongoing 100 days programmes of the ruling BJP led coalition government in Manipur. Asserting that such workshop was another initiative towards spreading awareness on government policies and welfare programmes to people through media, Kongbam pointed out that media can play a big role in the initiative of bringing good governance in the state.
AIR Imphal Station Director Dilip Mayengbam said media needs to bridge the government with the people. It was through media that government could know whether the welfare schemes of the government reach directly to the beneficiaries. Media can also take part in the speeding up the development pace by giving emphasis to development reporting, he added. Poknapham Editor Aribam Robindro Sharma said media persons need to have a thorough knowledge of the government schemes as well as others properly before filing their reports.
Media and Communication Officer Premlata Loitam of PIB Imphal in her welcome address said the workshop was organised considering the necessity of the media persons to understand the government’s flagship programmes and other welfare programmes so that it can be dissimilated to the masses in a better way.
In the technical sessions, State health department’s Immunisation Officer Dr Nandakishwore reminded the importance of Universal Immunization Programme, a vaccination program launched in 1985 was one of the initiatives of Government of India towards better healthcare service to its people. Out of state’s 85 public health centres, 69 of them have 24X7 services with doctors and nurses, he added. Steps are on to provide similar facilities in the remaining health centres as well.
