The festival was opened with a performance of 100 piano overture
“Brillante,” the second edition of The Nagaland Piano Festival commenced with the 100 piano overture who recited Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA) in Jotsoma on Oct. 29.
The Adviser to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha, who graced the occasion as the special guest, appreciated the organisers and the initiative of Task Force for Music and Fine Arts (TaFMA) for converging the platform for arts and music.
“We are with you, we want you to have ambition, we want you to aim high, we want each and everyone of you to be wonderful ambassadors of Nagaland and the Naga people to the outside world,” said Metha while encouraging the youngsters present.
Dr. Surojeet Chatterji from KM Conservatory of Music Chennai (AR Rahman’s institute) expressed his happiness on listening to the melody who was carried away by the performance on the 100 piano overture.

The second edition of the Nagaland Piano Festival was marked by more than 100 pianists ranging from instructors to learners with the youngest piano player aged three played the Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’.
The recital was led by Khyochano TCK, Aman Mahajan, Natalia Kapylova and Vimezo Iralu.
The second day of the festival will witness workshops on classical piano, introduction to jazz piano and improvisation, hymn arrangement basics, piano maintenance, focused interactions, demos, techniques and practice habits. A piano concert would be held from 5 pm onwards with the theme, “Sapphire skies” featuring classical artist Natalia Kapynova and jazz soloist Aman Mahajan.
The organisers informed that the festival is for celebrating the piano music with a convergence of local, national and international pianists playing classics, jazz and other contemporary forms of piano.
In the competition, Ten candidates were qualified for the final round that is scheduled to be held on Oct. 31. The candidates qualified for the finals are - Category A (Junior): Chandni Kausika, Metshewe-u Lohe, Visevoü Üsou, Vichürielie Sechü and Rokosituo Hozoyeh; Category B (Senior): Shantu Bependra Patel, Ayide Koza, Anuvrat Choudhary, Maowapang Lusang and Neivinuo Rino.
The judges for the ongoing piano competition are Natalia Kapylova, Aman Mahajan and Sahu Peseyie.
