A three-day photo-exhibition on Voters’ Awareness, organized by Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, began at Dimapur this afternoon. The photo-exhibition is aimed at generating awareness among various sections of people particularly the first-time voters and women group.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Ms Hushili stressed on the importance of casting of votes and urged the youngsters and district campus ambassadors to spread the news to friends and communities in rural areas to elect a man of integrity as their leader in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.Additional director, DAVP Manikant Thakur in his welcome address termed the coming general election as the festival of democracy and mentioned about the confidence of the Election Commission of India that with more participation of voters the Indian democracy will become stronger.
A number of panels with photographs and information are being displayed at Holy Cross Convention Hall for visitors. More students from schools and colleges are expected to visit during the three days of exhibition which highlights on the history of general elections, youth power, women participation, ECI, electronic voting machine, special arrangements for older people to vote, etc. The DAVP team will be organizing the next exhibition at Guwahati, Assam.
