The government of Nagaland has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing of two schoolchildren at Phor villager in Meluri sub-division under Phek district during a shootout between the Assam Rifles and the NSCN (K).
According to a DIPR report, the government has appointed the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Kuko Mero to conduct the magisterial enquiry with the stated brief to ascertain (a) the causes and the source of firing which led to the death of two civilians and injury to one (b) the persons responsible for the firing and (c) whether the incident could have been avoided.
“The report is to be submitted to the state government within 15 (fifteen) days from the date of publication of this notification,” the report informed.
