Appeals citizens to observe God oriented election
Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): The Phom Baptist Christian Association and Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC) women department organised a barefoot prayer walk on Feb. 19 under the banner “Barefoot prayer walk for Clean Election 2018”. Update from the organiser infromed on Tuesday.
The walk was started from Lempong junction and ended at Hukphang-Bhumnyu junction covering the whole Longleng district main street.
It was stated that more than 600 womenfolk in traditional attire walked across the street of Longleng district in prayer and songs.
APW LTBC Nyiamla invoked God’s blessing and give thanks to Almighty for peaceful situation with no election related violence and altercations in the district.
The gathering confessed their sins and also prayed for the citizens to abstain from selling votes, use of alcohol and drugs and guns-muscles.
ES PBCA Tialemba Phom said ‘one cannot come to power over a citizen’s death body.’ Violence, bloodshed and evil intention should be shun and Christ oriented Clean Election should be practiced, he said.
The gathering also pledged and affirmed its stand on Nagaland Baptist Church Council triennial convention’s resolution.
Women secretary PBCA Angbhen encouraged the citizens to value the life given by God. She said ‘there is life beyond election’ and that no individual, family or society can exist without God’s blessing.
She also voiced that people do not have the strength to take God’s wrath and that one cannot bear His anger. She reminded the citizens that Phom land is called the ‘Land of Peace’ and that they are given the purpose to preserve the God given peace through all circumstances.
Evil and wrong practices such as selling of vote; clashes and violence, and use of substance abuse will bring great harm, she added.
Electing the right leader was emphasised.
Citizens were called to observe God oriented election and abstain from bloodshed, violence, vote sell and use of liquor and drugs.
