DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 27: Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) held ‘Grassroots resurgence cum federal assembly’ from November 23 to 25 at Yongshei Village Council Hall, hosted by by Yongshei Students’ Union (YSU).
Resource person, Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikong, chancellor of North East Christian University spoke on topic, ‘A visionary leader’. He said a leader should be well updated with the current situation of the world and has a brighter vision for the future of the society and should have a well planned strategy for the future. On the topic, ‘Village administration’, he said community should get involved, rather than wait for the government to bring changes. Further, he urged the leaders of every village to be transparent and accountable.
Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA), executive secretary, Y. Nuklu Phom, speaking on topic ‘Revamp in economy and education’ said every change can begin and develop only from the initial stage. He said students’ community of today should initiate in creating an environment which can persuade every individual to feel the need for quality education. To bring such reformation, he said, both the government and leaders should work hand in hand and strive to attain 100% literacy. Speaking on topic, “Conflict management”, he said for any development and progress, peace is pre-requisite and no development can happen when there is no peace. He stated Nagas and Phoms in particular need to stop dividing oneself into clans and tribes, and come together as one and added that in this present world of turmoil, peace is very important. Further, he upon the Longleng people to take initiative in spreading peace, as Longleng is one of the most peaceful districts in Nagaland.
The program was attended by village council chairmen, VDB secretaries, citizen presidents, women leaders, head GBs and student leaders of Phom community from Auching to Ladhikar.
During the gathering, the house resolved to constitute Village Development Advisory Board in each village, to revamp moroung education in all the Phom villages and to form peace initiative committee in every village.
