UGs mobilizing public members for events mentioned
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 26: A village community in Phek district has excommunicated a member of the NSCN (IM) from said village’s community events and benefits for what was alleged to be false allegations and insult to the village’s council by abusing his role as “tatar” of the group.
The Pholami Village Council issued a press release on Wednesday outlining the issue.
“It is unanimously resolved in the joint meeting of Pholami village head of department convened on 13th Oct.2016 at the village community hall to ex-communicate Mr. Sahicu Vezhu from all Pholami village functions and benefits for his false allegation and insults towards the Pholami Village Council in his capacity as the Tatar of NSCN GPRN (IM),” the press release stated.
The Pholami council expressed revulsion at the ‘magnitude of his lies’ and alleged misuse of office by the NSCN (IM) activist. According to the council, it was understood to have been charged with failing to “mobilise people to attend the NSCN/GPRN (IM) meeting call” at Sakraba town on September 22, 2016.
“The Pholami Village Council members were very much present in this meeting where the VCC spoke, strongly affirming the inherent rights of the Nagas as a sovereign nation pledging unwavering commitment to the 1956 plebiscite of the Naga people, which the Tatar of NSCN/GPRN (IM) Mr. Sahicu Vezhu said is wrong and demanded the resignation of the village council chairman threatening with dire consequences to the kins and relatives of the chairman if his dictate is not complied to.”
The council also alleged that the said Vezhu was taking his organization “for a ride for his personal monetary gains and corruption in directing the tax in-charge of NSCN/GPRN (IM).” On October 10, 2016, the council stated that the group’s activists were directed to “arrest” the village council chairmen, “misinforming the tax collector of NSCN/GPRN (IM) that Pholami had not paid the annual tax for 2016-2017 to the NSCN / GPRN (IM) which in reality he had already drawn an amount of Rs. 5000 from the treasurer in the presence of VCM Mr. Mudosu Kezo and Mr. Kuhuzhoyi Vezhu on 29th June 2016, the receipt which he had withheld for reasons best known to him.”
“At this crucial juncture when the Nagas are striving for peace and unity we cannot allow such a person as Sahicu Vezhu from Pholami village to negate the aspiration of the Nagas,” the organization added.
“The Pholami village henceforth will not extend its co-operation to any government or organisation that Mr. Sahicu Vezhu is part and partial of.”
