Kohima, Aug. 31 (EMN): Phesa FC Meriema emerged as the champions after defeating Town Club Pughoboto 5-4 in a nail-biting final game of the penalty shootout competition organised by the Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima (SABCK) at Kuochiezie local ground in Kohima on Saturday, August 31.
Phesa FC Meriema walked home richer with a sum of INR 30,000 while runners-up Town Club Pughoboto received INR 20,000.
The two finalists Kichimi Sheshu SABCK and Ally FC pocketed INR 5,000 each.
Kekhriengulie of Phesa FC Meriema was adjudged the best goalkeeper award and received INR 1000.
Jevito Achumi and Vikato M. Swu, both members of Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers' Union attended the opening ceremony and closing ceremony as guests of honour respectively.
A total of 46 teams from three districts - Kohima, Dimapur, and Zunheboto took part in the competition. The event was organised in aid of the ongoing SABCK youth's building which is under construction.
