Dimapur, June 30 (EMN): Peeved at the non-utility of BSNL tower in Phenshunyu village, the village council in its executive meeting has suggested dismantling the tower as it is not serving the purpose for which it was erected but rather creating problems to the villagers.
The council, in a press release, claimed that the BSNL tower erected in Phenshunyu village was of no use to the public since its installation. It alleged that the supplied backup generator set was defective, while the 25 KVA transformer brought for power supply to the tower was lying rotten and no technician had visited the site to rectify the fault.
Besides, the council claimed that the tower with such height at the highest elevation within the heart of the village causes lot of problems especial during thundering and lightning. It also alleged that the tower has no lightning conductor due to which whenever there is lightning the village transformer gets damaged frequently.
It cited recent instance in which the transformer got damaged and the villagers experienced total blackout when the whole world is watching the World Cup Russia 2018.
