Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): A newly upgraded building of the district hospital of Phek was inaugurated by S Pangnyu Phom, minister for Health & Family Welfare, on January 30. A press release on Wednesday informed about the event.
In his address, the minister dedicated the upgraded hospital to the people of Phek district, the updates stated. “He mentioned that the health system in the state has been steadily progressing to a large extend in the recent past especially with the interventions under the National Health Mission as indicated by certain key health indicators such as low infant mortality rates and maternal mortality rates etc.”
However, the press release stated, “health infrastructure gap is still huge and with the limited state resources it will be difficult to achieve the national health goals, unless available resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.”
The minister was stated to have called upon the society to “re-commit our relentless support towards the communitization policy of the state government for strengthening of public institutions and services through active participation to promote accountability transparency and people friendly services.” The hospital has been upgraded with 100-bed facilities from the existing 75 beds, the press release stated.
