
Kohima, Dec. 10 (EMN): Phekmi Welfare Union Kohima (PWUK) on Saturday celebrated its 25th anniversary at Highland Park in Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, Kuzholuzo Nienu, Leader of NPF Legislature Party and co-chairman of UDA government, called upon the people to get out of their comfort zone and step forward to compete with the competitive world.
Nienu, who also hails from Phek village, asked the community to exercise the application of common sense, adding that as long as one remained within its comfort zone, they would not prosper. He also advised the people to accept advice as well as criticism positively.
He further urged upon the people to stay connected with the feeling of oneness and strive towards peaceful coexistence and all round development.
President of Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK), Theja Therieh, complimented PWUK for completing 25th glorious years since its formation in 1997. He maintained that PWUK is a strong pillar of CHK and acknowledged their contribution towards a common cause.
Therieh also called upon the community not to have an inferiority complex but to struggle and learn to live cohesively with others. He also told the people to do away with supremacy to uphold the atmosphere of goodwill.
Stressing on the need to broaden the horizon of investment skills, he also called upon the community to strengthen their lifestyle and be part of sustainable economic growth.
President of Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), Vezuhii Keyho, has lauded PWUK’s present team for the successful management of the 25th anniversary celebration.
“We have to march ahead,” he said and told the gathering to compete with others with a positive attitude. He also called upon the community not to remain complacent but to strive harder for excellence in various fields.
PWUK president, Zhokupa Hoshi, delivered the presidential address, while the welcome address was delivered by Vechisa Venuh, convenor of silver jubilee planning committee.
Veshezo Keyho invoked God’s blessing, while the PWUK’s first convenor, Vedusayi Soho, highlighted brief history on the formation of PWUK.
The programme was chaired by PWUK vice president, Surhoneyi Soho, while an act of blessings and dedication was pronounced by Rev. Velavoyi Keyho. Zhozo and friends and Pelesa Keyho with his wife presented songs.
Meanwhile, a new team of PWUK executives was announced which would be led by Surhoneyi Soho as president and Pelesa Keyho as general secretary.
