Kohima, Oct. 15 (EMN): The 15th edition of the Phek town inter-colony tournament organised by the Phek Town Youth Society, got underway at Phek local ground on Mon. Oct. 15.
MLA 19 Phek A/C Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, attended the occasion as chief host.
Speaking on the occasion, Azo lauded the initiative of the youth society for organising such a platform to showcase sporting talents.
He further encouraged the players to develop a true sporting spirit and exhibit their talents for the glory of God and sports.
On the first day of the tournament on Monday, Bible Hill defeated Mission Compound 2-1 and Bethany-ll defeated Jerico -ll 1-0 in their respective football matches.
While in women’s volleyball matches, Jerico-ll defeated Bethany -ll, Hebron-ll beat Bethel colony and Mission Compound overcame Zion colony during the encounter.
The organisers informed the tournament will go on till Oct. 20. Altogether, 11 colonies are taking part in the tournament
