Phek Town Chakhesang Students' Union extends solidarity to CSU over NH-29 project delay

DIMAPUR — The Phek Town Chakhesang Students' Union (PTCSU) has expressed its unequivocal solidarity with the Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) in voicing concern over the continued delay in the execution of the NH-29 Kohima-Jessami Road Package-II project.

In a solidarity letter dated June 5, the PTCSU stated that the prolonged failure to complete this vital infrastructure project within the stipulated timeframe, despite repeated assurances and extensions granted to the executing agencies, has caused immense inconvenience to the public and adversely affected socio-economic activities across the region.

It added that such persistent delays reflect a lack of accountability and commitment to public welfare.

The PTCSU commended the CSU for its efforts in safeguarding the interests of the people and advocating transparency, efficiency, and quality workmanship in the implementation of the project.

The union stated that the concerns raised by the CSU are legitimate and represent the collective aspirations and grievances of the people who depend on this crucial lifeline for connectivity, commerce, and development.

In view of the unsatisfactory progress and the repeated failure of the authorities and contractors to honour their commitments, the PTCSU fully endorsed the position adopted by the CSU and supported its democratic demand for immediate intervention, strict accountability, and expeditious completion of the project.

The union stated that public infrastructure projects funded through public resources must be executed with responsibility, transparency, and adherence to agreed timelines, adding that any deviation from these principles undermines public trust and hampers the overall development of the region.
