The Phek Town Evening Badminton Club organized an open Badminton championship on April 30 and May 1 at Phek town.
In the category of sub-junior (Boys), Eto Khamo & Ruvezo Rhakho emerged as winners, while Chibu Nienu & Vetu Tetseo secured runners-up. In mixed doubles, Shekhotolu & Bodzuwe lifted the title, while Akole Mero Dozo &Wewute were the runners-up. In the open men’s doubles, Setichem Sangtam & Wewute were the winners while Kezhaletuo Khrasi & Kewechu Kreo backed the runner-up position. The sub-veteran category was won by Setichem & Vikehie Angami, while Kezhaletuo & Kewechu came second. In the veteran doubles, Mulehu Khesoh & Zhosakho Khesoh emerged as the winners and Kezhaletuo & Kewechu bagged the second place.Earlier, the championship was graced by GH Ramlia, District Session judge, Phek, as the chief guest. In his address, Ramlia encouraged the players to partake in sports activities citing that games & sports is one area where one can attain success and glory in a short spa of time. Recalling the achievements of Nag sportspersons like Dr. T. Ao and Chekrovolu Swuro who brought laurels to our people, he encouraged the players to strive for excellence with dedication and commitment.
