Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): A programme about the Gram Swachch Bharat Parv (Hindi for village sanitation programme) of the Gram Swarai Abhiyaan (Hindi for village self-governance) campaign was held for Phek district on April 18.
The program was organised by the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS). The event had the deputy commissioner of Phek, Shanavas C, as the chief guest, updates have informed.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest congratulated the society for organising the programme which is an ongoing event all over the country. Also emphasising on personal and social hygiene, he called upon all to co-operate and fight against waste pollution.
He added that cleanliness is important for betterment of life and for healthy living. A DIPR report stated that the chief guest also declared Phek district as an Open Defecation Free on the occasion.
