Keyho of the BS team became the fastest man of the 2024 Phek Sports Association
(PSA) by winning gold in the 100m dash with a record time of 12.17 seconds on
the opening day of day 1.
The day witnessed the final events of both track and field
for both genders, followed by the games events, according to an update.
Earlier, Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA and Leader of the NPF
Legislature Party, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Nienu urged the youth to focus
more on professionalism and to maintain consistency in order to achieve their
goals and aspirations. He further encouraged the sportspeople to uphold the key
values of fearing God, discipline, punctuality, and consistency to become
professionals in their chosen disciplines.
PSA president Akuve Soho, in his presidential address,
emphasised the importance of maintaining a genuine competitive spirit in the
field of sports and urged its members to strive for greater heights. Chivozo
Soho, village council chairman of Phek Village, shared greetings, while
Kuluvezo Soho, Games and Sports Secretary, administered the oath to the
participating teams.
The MC team leads the medal tally on day 1 with nine medals:
six gold, one silver, and two bronze.
Altogether, eight teams with a registered contingent of 500
sportspeople are vying for various titles in several disciplines. The meet will
culminate on December 18 with Shevozo Nienu, assistant district education
officer, Phek, attending the closing ceremony as the valedictory guest.
