Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): Phek observed World Blood Donor Day at District Hospital, Phek on June 14, under the theme “What can you do? with the slogan; Give blood, give now, give often’’.
Addressing the gathering as guest speaker, Dr. Limanukshi, Junior Specialist DH, Phek said the event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank the blood donors for their voluntary life saving gifts of blood. He also said it aims in encouraging all the people to strengthen the emergency preparedness of health services in their community by donating blood. He urged the participants to contribute by donating the blood in times needs and be prepared for any eventuality and emergency such natural and man-made disaster. He also shared the basics fact, components, myth and misconception about blood donation.
The program was chaired by Kuduvo Kezo, DPO, DAPCU. IEC materials were also displayed and distributed to the participants.
Officials and staffs from health department and NGOs attended the program.
