
District Hospital Phek nurses with the medical
superintendent and chief nursing officer at NEIGRIHMS.
- DIMAPUR — Nine
senior staff nurses from District Hospital, Phek, visited North Eastern Indira
Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong,
on March 27 and 28 for an exposure.
- According to an update, this was an initiative of the
Hospital Welfare Committee, District Hospital (DH) Phek, led by Dr. Ngopelo
Keviechu, Senior Medical Officer, DH Phek.
- During the visit, Ridaker Khoglah, Chief Nursing Officer
(CNO) of NEIGRIHMS, gave an overview of the hospital. This was followed by a
visit to various departments of the hospital, led by two deputy nursing
superintendents (DNS).
- The departments visited included OPD services, the radiology
department, the blood collection centre, casualty, the dialysis centre, the
labour room, the operation theatre, the ICU, and others. The team also visited
various super-speciality departments, such as cardiology, urology, and
nephrology.

- The team was given an opportunity to visit the various
support services of the hospital, which included the laundry, kitchen, and
central sterile supply department (CSSD).
- Dr. Wamsalan Karu Shullai, associate professor of obstetrics
and gynaecology, gave a brief orientation about the various guidelines for the
LaQshya (The National Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative) assessment
and its implementation.
- It was mentioned that the exposure tour provided valuable
experiences to the senior nurses about the structure and functioning of a
tertiary hospital and will be beneficial in bringing about quality changes in
their workplace.
