Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): The ‘national mobile medical unit’ of Phek conducted during September “outreach activities” providing free health check up, discourses on topics of non-communicable diseases, hygiene and on the importance of breastfeeding.
The places where the unit conducted the events were Chozuba town, Runguzu old, Runguzu Nasa, Khutsami village, Yoruba old, Yoruba Nasa, Suthozu old, Sekrezu village, Khusomi village, and Suthozu.
The organisation issued a press release to the media on Monday informing about the activities it had been undertaking.
The team also participated in the observation of the first anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat and conducting a free health check up camp, the updates stated. During the event, altogether 535 patients were screened, the organisers stated. Out of them 36 patients were “referred to higher facilities” while 78 were given ante-natal check-up.
Other activities that were carried out during the programme included testing for blood sugar, pregnancy, HB estimation for all ANC cases, and collection of blood smears for malaria, the organisers stated.
The national mobile medical unit provides preventive, “promotive” and “curative” health care in inaccessible areas and difficult terrains which are underserved or ‘unserved’ areas, the updates stated.
The team also educates people about hygiene and sanitation, registers ante-natal cases, gives awareness talks about different health issues and provides free medical check-up, it added.
