
John Tsulise Sangatam along with other dignitaries on the
occasion of World Kidney Day at District Hospital in Phek town on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — Along
with the rest of the world, Phek district observed “World Kidney Day” on
Thursday at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall of District Hospital, Phek, on
the theme “Are your kidneys ok? Detect early, protect kidney health.”
- An update from the office of the chief medical officer
(CMO), Phek, stated that John Tsulise Sangtam, deputy commissioner (DC) of
Phek, was the guest speaker.
- Coinciding with “World Kidney Day,” the Hemodialysis Centre
at DH Phek was officially inaugurated by the DC of Phek in presence of the
chief medical officer, superintendent of police, commander of 39 Assam Rifle,
officials from Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima, and other
dignitaries.
- The dialysis centre was inaugurated under Pradhan Mantri
National Dialysis programme (PMNDP) as part of National Health Mission (NHM) to
provide free dialysis service to the poor with an aim to strengthen district
hospitals.
- The DC, in his speech, stated that Phek district was
fortunate to get the dialysis centre, which could save economical problem of
the people at large. He added that it should be responsibility of everyone to
propagate the information to the community.
- Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Tinenlo James Katiwa,
joint director and SPO of PMNDP, highlighted the PMNDP programme on how it
operates and its main objectives. He also shared the risk factors that increase
kidney disease, signs and symptoms and some important points to keep the kidney
healthy.
- The dedicatory prayer was said by Chivo Medeo, youth
director of PTBC, and a song was presented by Vetulu Veswu.
- The programme was chaired by Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu, SMO of
DH, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Along, DH Phek.
