- DIMAPUR — Phek
district officially launched the 1st round of National Deworming Day (NDD)
programme on February 10 at Bishop Abraham Memorial School in Phek town.
- Dr. Shasinle Tep, district programme officer (DPO), launched
the programme in the presence of DPMU staff. She highlighted on the NDD
programme, which is conducted every year to combat worm infestations, stated an
update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek.
- It stated that a total of 300 students along with teaching
staff were administered with Albendazole tablet during the launch programme.
- It also informed that NDD programme would be organised in a
fixed day approach using the platforms of schools and Anganwadi centres across
the district. It added that mop-up round would be organised on February 17 as
per the standard operational guidelines.
- It mentioned that Albendazole tablet would be administered
to children from the age group of 1-19 years to reduce the harm caused by soil
transmitted helminths (STH).
