Kohima, June 13 (EMN): The Phek District Badminton Association (PDBA) conducted a one-day veteran badminton tournament-cum-get together of Phek district veteran players on June 12 in Kohima.
In the '45 years and above' category, Rothihu Tetseo and Rhuvisie emerged as champions while Lhiwepelo Ritse and Wekhape came second.
In the 'Below 45 years' category Deko Chiero and Wepe Kronu's partnership beat Ashu Theyo and Cuzota.
Minister for planning & coordination and land revenue Neiba Kronu and MLA Yitachu also reached semi finals. MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu and Dr. Chotisuh Sazo also joined the tournament and encouraged the players.
Altogether, 41 veterans participated in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the PDBA has informed that the association will be hosting the 42nd Nagaland Inter-District Badminton Tournament and Open Championship 2018 at Pfutsero.
PDBA informed its members that team selection would be conducted on June 16 at Pfutsero from 10 am onwards.
