Dimapur, Feb. 11 (EMN): The Phek district unit of the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has asked authorities and contractors and their firms to learn a lesson from having failed to complete a recent road development project in the district.
The Phek NCSU issued a press release on Sun. referring to the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North Eastern Region (SARDP-Northeast) and to the controversial construction company Gayatri & Maytas.
‘The Phek district contractors and suppliers union (NCSU) would like to bring to the notice of the NHIDCL and National Highway in regard to SRADP (sic) phase-I construction for 2-lane work in Phek district viz Pfutsero to Phek and Chakabama to Zunheboto,’ the press release stated.
‘In this connection it is pertinent to note that the last project could not materialize causing immense lost and hardship to the people of Phek district, ‘ the union reminded.
The Phek district NCSU “would like to remind the concerned authorities to take us into confidence as far as supervision of the project is concerned so as to ensure successful completion.”
The unit urged the authorities in concern as well as contractors to “put in a joint effort in order to achieved the desire result of workmanship and timely completion.”
“In the end we would like to remind all that the concerned authorities as well as the contractors Gayatri & Maytas have utterly failed the people in the last project and therefore it is our earnest appeal to authorities concerned and the contractors to cooperate with us before execution of work begins so as to put in a joint effort towards the project,” the union stated in its appeal.
“We also remind all that no demand as such from any organization would be entertained so as the success of the project is ensured.”
