Phek District Co-operative Societies Union holds general session on the theme ‘Sustainable development.’

DIMAPUR — The Phek District Co-operative Societies Union (PDCU) convened its general session on August 30 at the CBCC Pioneer’s Complex, Pfutsero, on the theme ‘Sustainable development.’
The event was hosted by the Chakhesang Women MPCS Ltd., the PDCU stated in a press release.
Delivering the presidential address, Kekhwengulo Lea, president of PDCU, stressed that co-operative societies must remain a joint venture—working together hand in hand to foster collective growth and resilience.
Marlong T, ARCS in-charge of SRCS Pfutsero, emphasised the importance of unity over individualism and urged societies to continue working hard while recognising one another’s strengths.
He also highlighted the ongoing PACS computerisation initiative and shared insights on loan facilities available to co-operatives.

Kedoutsolhi Wetsah, president of NSCU, called upon societies to set an example of good practices that others can emulate. He encouraged proper functioning, accountability to strengthen the co-operative movement.
A highlight of the session was the declaration of new office bearers of PDCU led by president Vekhoneyi Venuh, vice president Mutsicho Sazo, general secretary Mesetsozu Wezah, joint secretary Wekotso-u Kapfo, finance secretary Chuvi Lea, treasurer Lhiwekhape Wetsah, and publicity & information secretary Tavelhü Medeo.
The legal advisors are advocate Wekhrope Marhu and advocate Vekhotso Swuro, while the advisory board members are Kekhwengulo Lea, Khosapa Venuh and Kedoutsolhi Wetsah.
Special prayer for the newly elected team was offered by Vechulou Kanuo.
The session was chaired by Vekhoneyi Venuh, with an opening prayer led by Mutsicho Sazo followed by the welcome address by Wekotso-ü Kapfo, secretary of Chakhesang Women MPCS Ltd., who extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries, members, and representatives, emphasising the significance of cooperation in achieving sustainable growth and community development.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rieletho Nguri, PDCU vice president, and a closing prayer by Kekhwehlilo Tara, chairman of Tiisiipu MPCS Ltd.
The event was marked by active participation from advisors, legal advisors, society member representatives and area representatives from different parts of the district. The discussions and deliberations reflected a collective resolve to work towards sustainable practices, economic resilience, and social progress through co-operatives.
The general session reaffirmed the union’s commitment to building stronger, people-centred co-operative societies under the guiding principle of “working together for sustainable development.”
