MSME Dimapur and DIC Phek organised a PM Vishwakarma workshop in Phek to promote branding, marketing, packaging, financial literacy and export development among artisans.

DIMAPUR — The MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Dimapur, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), organised a one-day awareness workshop on branding and marketing under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in association with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Phek, at the DC’s conference hall, Phek, on August 28.
In his keynote address, Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, emphasised the importance of financial sustainability in today’s generation, while comparing present-day life with the simpler lifestyle of the past, a DIPR report stated.
Giving an overview of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Nguori said the programme focuses on the branding and marketing of products.
He highlighted three essential traits for artisans to succeed and sustain their livelihoods—idea, skill and marketing.
A PowerPoint presentation on product development, packaging and labelling was delivered by Truvi Rhi, Project Head, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Community Development.
The presentation covered various types of packaging, including bottles, bags, cane, tins and tubes, and highlighted the importance of attractive and appropriate packaging in drawing customers.

Rhi also gave an overview of product labelling and the FSSAI labelling format.
A session on “Financial Literacy and Interaction” was conducted by the Lead District Manager, SBI Phek, who briefed the participants on the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which was launched to support artisans engaged in 18 traditional trades.
The Lead District Manager also explained the benefits available under the scheme, eligibility criteria, and the procedures for registration and availing loans.
Under the session on “Export Development and QR Code Generation”, Atrise Sangtam, Functional Manager, DIC Phek, along with officials from India Post, Phek, sensitised the artisans on export development and guidelines to be followed while exporting products.
The programme concluded with an interactive session with technical experts and experience-sharing among participants.
Handmade products produced by artisans from across Phek district were also showcased during the workshop.
