The district administration of Phek on Friday met with representative of the School Management Board Members, parents and ward authorities and Doubashi in the District Planning Office, to deliberate the issue of admission in the government school in Phek Sardar and Khuza circle.There were reports recently that the schools have been facing problems regarding inability to offer admission to class XI (Arts) due to detachment of higher secondary classes from the government college.
The meeting also discussed on issues related to shortage of teaching faculty and the limited seats at the lone Higher Secondary School at Phek.
The parents of students expressed their grievances said that they could not send their children outside Phek town due to their poor economic position and requested the authority of GHSS Phek to admit all admission applicants and not to refuse admission of any students.
The teaching faculty also expressed their problems faced if students were admitted beyond the limit of the prescribed teacher-student ration for maintaining the standard of quality education. They also expressed their serious concern on the shortage of teachers and limited class room accommodation.
The meeting unanimously decided to admit all the students who seek admission in class XI. It was also decided to construct 2 more temporary buildings for the purpose of class room accommodation. The big villages of Losami, Lozaphuhu, Phek and Kutsapo have come forward to donate the housing materials for the construction of the class rooms. The other villages under PhekSadar and Khuza administration jurisdiction will be voluntarily contributing money for procurement of furniture for the school.
