Our Reporter Dimapur, Feb. 17 (EMN): The Nagaland Public Health Engineering department’s (Phed) annual administrative report for 2019-20 stated that the department is engaged in rural water supply schemes in 109 habitations, besides working on provisions of the functional household tap connection (FHTC) in 27, 428 households as part of rural water supply. Out of which, 45 habitations with 3, 746 FHTC are being targeted for completion during 2019-20, updates stated.
For urban water supply, the report stated that the scheme
for augmentation of water supply to the state’s capital town Kohima is being
taken up with 90:10 funding ratio under the ministry of Urban Development.
The project, it stated, involves pumping water from the Zarü
stream to a reservoir at Kigwema village. The design capacity of the project is
3.80 million litres daily. The main infrastructures have been completed while the
distribution system is being worked on. The project is targeted for completion
during the year 2019-20, it is informed.
Urban sewerage and
sanitation
Further, the report informed that the department was implementing
a project in Dimapur city for pollution abatement of the rivers Diphu and
Dhansiri. The estimated cost of the project was revised in 2013-14 from which
INR 82.8 crore was approved. The physical progress of it is 45% as of date, it
informed.
