- DIMAPUR — The Public Health Engineering
Department (PHED), Phek division, organised World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 on
the theme ‘Together for a period-friendly world,’ at Government Residential
Girl Hostel, Phek, on May 28.
- The event, sponsored by Sanitation and WSSO, Nagaland, was
organised to highlight good menstrual hygiene practices and raise awareness
about the importance of access to menstrual products, period education and
sanitation facilities, an update stated.
- Abigail Ritse, sanitation and hygiene consultant, PHED Phek
division, advocated for menstrual hygiene and sanitation, emphasising the need
to break myths, silence, and stigma surrounding menstruation, a natural process
for women.

- Important practices to follow during menstruation, proper
methods of disposing pads, were also discussed.
- Kutulu Vero, district coordinator, PHED Phek, led a hands-on
demo on sanitary pad usage, followed by a pledge on menstrual hygiene. The
department distributed biodegradable sanitary pads and MHM pamphlets to the
participants.
