Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Minister of PHED, Chotisuh Sazo, along with the secretary, Maongwati Aier, Chief Engineer Er. Kevisekho Kruse and field officers visited and took stock of the progress of implementation of the project “Providing water supply to 24 villages under Chiephobozou RD Block” on May 9.
This is the biggest rural water supply project so far implemented by the department funded under NLCPR of the DoNER Ministry, Government of India, at cost of Rs 26.26 crores.
The pumping project involves creation of several balancing reservoirs of capacity of 28.5 lakhs litres and 30 lakhs litres. Once the project (which is now in advanced stage) is completed, a total of 24 water scarce villages under Chiephobozou RD Block of Kohima district would be getting drinking water supply at the rate of 2.80 million litres per day.
Although the minister is much impressed at the manner in which the department is making headway through this challenging task with the officers/ staff and the contractors working on war footing, he urged upon them to continue to press on with the work in order to complete the work and get it commissioned at the earliest, desirably within June or July 2017.
