Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) accorded farewell to its outgoing Principal Secretary, Dr. Maongwati Aier, on July 31 at PHE Chief Engineer’s office in Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aier expressed delight to serve the people of Nagaland for 35 years and thanked God for his blessings, the support of family members and the cooperation of all officers and staff.
Dr. Aier said he was impressed with the high quality of officers he worked with and called them his “Punctuality Team.” He thanked them and urged to continue the fight to improve the department in order to deliver better service to the public.
He described the chief engineer, Er. Y Tep, as an experienced man in the work and hoped that the department would continue to scale higher especially in water supply to the state capital under his leadership.
Mhathung Tungoe, Additional Secretary of PHED, mentioned that Dr. Aier played a major role in service till his retirement and was conferred National Awards by the President of India for the 2011 census and by the Election Commission of India for the 2013 general election to the State assembly and the Governor’s Award in 2001 for meritorious service. Tungoe said mentioned that under the initiative of Dr. Aier, water supply to Wokha town could be commissioned and Nagaland state was declared 100% ODF state through the SBM of Government of India.
PHED chief engineer, Er. Y Tep expressed gratitude to Dr. Aier for utilising his best service to the fullest for the department. He wished him a successful future with new beginning to lead the citizens.
