Kohima, March 14 (EMN):
A five-day long third-phase of the integrated teachers training programme on the Nishtha or the National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement, concluded at the Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire government higher secondary school on Saturday at Seikhazou in Kohima.

The programme was organised by the district mission authority, Samagra Shiksha, of Kohima.
The deputy director of School Education Emilo Patton addressed the valedictory function. She maintained that the school being a designated place to learn, “We have to give the best possible education to our students in the right way at the right time and at the right place.”

She told the teachers that the purpose of education was not only to impart knowledge but also to contribute to holistic development of the students.

“We may have the best system of curriculum or the best infrastructures but unless the teachers are sincere, dedicated, nothing can be achieved,” the official said.

“As school heads and teachers, it is our duty to motivate them and help them to learn in every possible way,” said Patton while asserting that each child is special.

The official told the participants that the Nishtha training programme was not a one-time training event but ‘this training should be an ongoing process.’

During the function, trainees Jenny Kath, Thepfulhou Theiinuo and Dr. Sukanya Paul shared their experiences and feedback of the training programme.

Various topics were covered during the training programme, which included pedagogy of language, pedagogies of social science, mathematics, and science, inclusive education, learning outcomes, leadership, preparation of classroom/learning plans, leadership modules, health and wellbeing, social-personal qualities, and the The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO Act.
It was also informed that a total of 450 trainees attended the programme that started on March 10.
