
Speaking at the programme, the CMO of Wokha, Dr. Zubenthung Kikon, welcomed the participants and informed that the programme was organised to create awareness on the digitisation of pharmacies to be implemented in the district. Dr. Kikon called upon the pharmacies to be accountable and refrain from selling drugs without prescription, an update from CMO’s office stated.
The CMO has sought their support to control drug abuse among the citizens and to install CCTV in their pharmacies. With the surge of COVID-19 cases in the country, Dr. Kikon further advised the pharmacists to use mask and sanitisers.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]T Zubemo Kikon, drugs control officer, Wokha, sensitised the participants on the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940, Drugs and Cosmetics Rules 1945 and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). He added that with the involvement of NCPCR, the drugs control organisation is making effort to strengthen the system of monitoring and implementation of existing policies.
Zubemo also informed that the concerned authority would monitor the CCTV footage of pharmacies at regular interval and cautioned that action would be taken as per the law in case of any offence. He mentioned that a certain period of time would be given to pharmacies for installation of CCTV camera.
The officer further explained the condition of licence, misbranded drugs, spurious drugs, schedule H, H1 and X related to various drugs and the penalty under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Act.
