DIPHU — The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will carry out an eviction drive at PGR/VGR land starting on Tuesday, February 20.
This was told to the media by the president of Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), Chandra Kanta Terang after attending a joint meeting convened by the KAAC, ASDC, Karbi Nimso Chingtur Asong (KNCA) and Karbi Students' Association (KSA) at KAAC Secretariat Conference hall on Monday.
Informing that the organisation had placed various demands to KAAC as well as a memorandum to the chief executive member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, he said the outcome of the meeting was positive.
Meanwhile, Ronghang said that they had discussions with ASDC, ASDC Youth Front, KSA and KNCA in connection with the PGR/ VGR land issue. ‘I'm positive that we can resolve the issue through discussions and as per law. We will discuss this again with all political parties tomorrow (Tuesday) including former MPs, former MLAs, former CEM, former Ems and former MACs,’ he added.
It may be mentioned that civil society organisations and student bodies have been protesting in connection with settlement in PGR/VGR land.
