DIMAPUR — The Pfuchatsumia Youth Organisation (PYO) has expressed concern over the continued neglect of National Highway-150, particularly the stretch between Pezielietsie and Keyake under the jurisdiction of National Highway Division No. 1, Nagaland.

In a statement issued to the press on Friday, the PYO highlighted that despite repeated appeals, both verbal and written, the department concerned has failed to take meaningful steps to repair the road. The organisation pointed out that this route serves as a vital link for local residents, commuters, schoolchildren, emergency services, and commercial vehicles, yet remains in an alarming state of disrepair.

It warned of road closure if immediate action is not taken.

The PYO drew attention to an official order—Office Order No. CE/NH/NH(O)/2021-22/114/(Vol-I) 857 dated April 21, 2025—wherein the department had committed to completing the necessary repair works within 15 days. It stated that this assurance, which was also backed by photographic evidence, has remained unfulfilled nearly three months later.

According to the organisation, the road has now deteriorated to dangerous levels—marked by deep craters, eroded surfaces, regular mudslides, and constant vehicle breakdowns. Commuting through this route has become a daily risk, with immense hardship being endured by all sections of society, it said.

“The prolonged inaction, despite repeated follow-ups and official commitments, is unacceptable and reflects a disturbing apathy towards public welfare and infrastructure maintenance,” the statement read. It further stated that the silence from the concerned department has only added to public frustration and disillusionment.

The PYO cautioned that if the repair work is not initiated within seven days from the date of this publication, the organisation will be compelled to close the road as a mark of public protest. It asserted that any inconvenience or fallout from such action would be solely the responsibility of the department and the government of Nagaland for failing to address legitimate public grievances.
