Peshu Students’ Union celebrates its 25th anniversary in Noklak with leaders S Keoshu Yimkhiung and Benei M Lamthiu urging youth to pursue sports professionally.

DIMAPUR — The Peshu Students’ Union (PSU) celebrated its 25th anniversary at Peshu village, Noklak, on Monday. The occasion was attended by Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports and Chairman of DPDB Shamator, S Keoshu Yimkhiung, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering of students and community members, Keoshu stressed a shift in how the youth perceive physical activities. He pointed out that sports should no longer be viewed merely as a "fun activity" or a hobby but as a professional pathway.
According to a DIPR report, he encouraged the gathering to find hidden talents, polish them with dedication, and pursue them as a career. He highlighted that the modern sports industry offers vast opportunities and can pave the way for a successful future, provided the youth remain disciplined and focused on their craft.
As the chairman of DPDB Shamator, he also noted the importance of the region's growth through its youth. He challenged the PSU members to use this 25th anniversary milestone as a launching pad for excellence, not just in academics, but also in the arena of sports and physical resources.
Congratulating the union for 25 years of service to the student community, MLA and General Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association, Benei M Lamthiu, lauded their initiative in giving importance to sports.
Addressing the athletes and youth, he noted that sports are a vital tool for community building. He encouraged the players to maintain the highest standards of fair play and to compete in a spirit of unity, reminding them that the discipline learned on the field is essential for achieving life goals.
Before the formal session began, the ceremony was marked by the unveiling of the jubilee monolith. This was followed by the hoisting of the flag. The celebration was attended by various village elders, student leaders and delegates.
