More than 50 persons said to be from The Bharatiya Janata Party unit of Peren district are said to have joined the Congress party. The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) issued a press release this week welcoming the members.
‘The NPCC warmly welcome all the 58 members led by Dr. Tumda Newme, district convener, Mahasampark Abhiyan, BJP Peren district. Mr. Kubui Pame, general secretary, Peren district and Mr. Namphak, district coordinator BJP membership drive and members who have resigned from different rank and file of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 6th Tening A/C under the Peren district,’ the NPCC stated in a press release.
“The members stated that they have decided to join the Indian National Congress (INC) in protest of the hidden agenda to propagate Hindu ideology and step motherly treatment to the state by the BJP and NDA government at the centre,” the press release, appended by N Yona Konyak, general secretary of the NPCC stated.
The committee listed a number of persons from Beisupuikan village, new Beisupuikan village, Nsenlo village, new Nkio village, new Ngaulong village, Bamslakilo village, old Ngaulong village, Beisumpuiloa village, Beisumpuiram village, Njauna village, Ngam village, new Nzau village, Nsong town, Nsong village, Lalong village, Kirsingram village, Tening town, and Azailong village.
